As others noted on another review, USB cables do not have drivers.
This is a simple USB cable.
It works.
I have 3 of these particular ones here at the office for various work stations and they're fine.
I won't profess to be savvy enough to understand what difference the "gold" makes and such. They work. That's all I need to know.

The OEM (HP) sells this product for more than 4 times this cost. It is the same exact item! As always with my purchases from "amazon" as the seller, my item was received in good condition, free shipping, and exactly what I ordered.

This USB cable does it's job. We used it to connect our printer to the computer. So far we have had no issues. The gold contacts seems to work well and the speed is as expected.
I do think it is overpriced at the quoted list price. We got it on a lightning deal so we paid a third of that.

The HP Premium Hi-Speed USB Gold Series Printer Cable is a good value cable with good performance. This cable is compatible with USB 2.0, hence the "high-speed" description. If you need a cable to connect a USB printer or an external CD or DVD drive, this will do the job. The price is acceptable given the quality and length of the cable.
The cable is six feet long (1.8 meters) which is more than enough for most users. If you are going to set up a print-server for network or wireless printing, this gives you the option of placing your printer farther away from your network router or print-server. And if you are going to use this cable to directly connect a printer or external drive to a computer, the length is enough to allow most people to place their devices far enough apart for most work spaces.
Gold connectors are included because they create a higher quality electrical connection. This ostensibly allows for faster transmissions and fewer errors. In this case, I did not test and compare this cable's connector quality versus another. But when given the option I prefer cables with gold plated connectors.
The build quality of the cable feels good overall. It has a solid feel and the ends seem to be strongly mated to the cable. In that sense, this cable is superior to other budget cables I have purchased.
CONCLUSION
The good quality and relatively reasonable price of this cable make it almost an automatic purchase. This is recommended for the value conscious consumer looking for a USB cable to connect their printer or external CD / DVD drives. While you can certainly find cables that are slightly cheaper, you will have a tough trouble finding a branded cable that is this well built. As such you may deem it to be worth a slight premium over generic cables. I am happy with the cable and I recommend it.
