Works Great April 10, 2010 B. Gengler 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Construction appears to be very durable with a metal enclosure. Works great. I'm running one of the outputs 25 feet on the cheapest HDMI cable I could find on amazon and have a flawless picture on both TVs. LED on the device is orange.
Worked flawlessly March 25, 2010 RobertPrestonWily (Lehi, UT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was skeptical that this little splitter was up to the challenge of splitting a signal and carrying the second one 30ft away (to a monitor I mounted in my shower area). Installation was a breeze, though, and the image is perfect - you would think the video source was sitting right by the monitor and only carrying one signal. I was wondering if there would be any noise or anything and I haven't experienced any problems at all.
If there are any downsides I would only say that I wish it came with an HDMI cable - I forgot that I would need 3 for my setup so I only had 2 and had to end up getting another one (you need one to go to the source and then one for each television).
The image is mirrored on each television, which is perfect for me because both TV's are in the same sound space. If you just want to add another mirrored monitor, this is your best solution.
Works if you get the settings right, read on... May 18, 2010 Telling it Straight 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all let me just say that this item arrived very quickly (4 days) and is working terrifically now.
I set this up with my 720p samsung 50" TV and a 20" LCD HD monitor. Coming from my FIOS box, the HD channels worked terrific, the HDMI splitter picked up the lower resolution TV and displayed perfectly on both outputs. However, when trying to view standard definition channels through the HDMI the splitter would only show an image on the HD LCD monitor (without the splitter these channels would normally show up without a problem on the TV).
I am writing this review to let others know how I solved the problem, because even the nice tech support guy couldn't solve it. Here is what I did.
I went to the FIOS box settings, and under the video sub-menu there is a setting for how it displays SD (standard definition) channels through HDMI. I changed this setting to "stretch" and voila! All channels now display perfect on both the TV and the monitor.
Good alternative to save some cost. June 10, 2010 S.K. (Chicago) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This splitter is a lot cheaper than the others I have looked into. Do not let that fool you. This splitter does an excellent job carrying a HDMI signal from the source to a nearby monitor and 25 feet away to an A/V receiver. I am using cheap cables with no issues at all.
The only minor annoyance, and I stress minor, is the brightness of the 4 red leds on the splitter itself. A black permanent marker worked well to dull the light output.
As a side note, this splitter must have power in order to function. It does not appear to have passive splitting capabilities like some do. I am not sure if shorter cables would change this or not. I purchased this assuming I would be plugging it in so no issues for me.
Excellent product! May 28, 2010 Marcel Very satisfied with this 2-1 HDMI converter! Easy installation but be sure to use high quality HDMI cables to work properly.
